Meet Our Founder
Kathi Burt
Founder / Paralegal
Kathi began her career as a Certified Paralegal (CP) at Kennedy, Holland, DeLacy & Svoboda, one of Nebraska’s most prominent legal firms. Kathi’s areas of focus included medical malpractice, insurance defense, personal injury, complex commercial litigation and insurance insolvency. The law firm of Lamson, Dugan and Murray, LLP was established in 1998 by former members of Kennedy Holland. Kathi continued working at Lamson, Dugan and Murray, LLP until August, 2005.
Kathi then went to to work in the fast-paced, high-volume legal department for American Family Insurance as the in-house paralegal for the state of Nebraska. Her specialties include in-depth case analysis and the preparation of case-defining medical chronologies and case summaries.
Kathi provides strategic support in all areas of litigation to include:
- Proactive management of all phases of discovery
- Meeting with clients and witnesses to identify key issues
- Determination of additional records and investigation needed
- Preparation for and assistance at trial
Kathi served for two years as a member of the Business Process Refinement Committee at American Family Insurance. She identified current practices at the individual law offices across the company, and developed consistent, streamlined processes in a paperless environment. By implementing these processes, the company was able to provide more cost-effective legal services. Kathi served as one of three team members to train the managing attorneys and legal service managers on the new business model. She also traveled to the individual offices to train the attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants on the new practices.
